1M1C with Sophie Coureau
This month, we are pleased to introduce Sophie, who shares her career path and vision of her profession with us.
1️⃣ Can you introduce yourself in a few words?
I have been an export sales assistant at France Agro Industries for four years. I have been working in international trade and logistics for 13 years, including five years in Japan and two years in the United Kingdom.
2️⃣ How would you describe your typical workday?
My days are usually very busy. We handle customer requests, communicate with our suppliers around the world to find the best prices, and manage some of the accounting and logistics. We check and palletize all the goods we receive to optimize shipments. This busy pace can sometimes be challenging, but it’s a very versatile and interesting job where you manage projects from start to finish.
3️⃣ What projects are you currently working on and what motivates you the most?
I am currently undergoing training to be able to declare and export hazardous materials, and I am also developing my own customer base.
4️⃣ In three words, how would you define your role? And why?
Versatility, efficiency, organization. In this position, you have to be well organized to keep track of all the files. You are always switching between the warehouse and the office, and you can’t let yourself get overwhelmed.
5️⃣ What are your main professional challenges and how do you overcome them?
My main challenge is to expand my customer base, in a context where my days are very busy. Remote prospecting can sometimes be a hindrance, but I use professional networks to maintain commercial momentum, while organizing myself to free up time as soon as possible.
6️⃣ What is the most rewarding part of your work within your company?
What I appreciate most is the team spirit. The atmosphere in our offices is really good, which makes everyday life much more enjoyable, even during busier periods.
7️⃣ If you could give one piece of advice to someone joining the JMI Group, what would it be?
Be proactive and willing to take initiative; don’t hesitate to get started and be a source of ideas.
8️⃣ What skill or quality do you consider essential in your job?
In my opinion, responsiveness is an essential quality. International resale is a very competitive sector, where you have to be able to respond quickly while also being able to manage unforeseen events effectively to avoid any delays in deliveries.
9️⃣ If you could swap jobs with someone else at the JMI Group for a day, who would you choose and why?
I would choose a position in support or sales, to discover a different pace of work and a different approach to everyday professional life. This would give me a more complete view of the Group’s activities.
🔟 Question of the month: “Spring is here! What has been your greatest achievement since the beginning of the year?”
My greatest achievement since the beginning of the year is retaining my very first customer, whom I approached in 2024 and who continues to place orders and is very satisfied with our collaboration. I have also initiated a first order with a second customer, with the hope of building an equally promising relationship.
