Mobilization for the environment alongside the Act! with Surfrider association
A waste collection operation was organized on the initiative of Juliette Aroca, CSR manager for the JMI Group, on the beaches of Boulogne-sur-Mer as part of a CSR initiative.
Wearing their JMI Group t-shirts, our employees were able to put their ecological commitment to good use alongside their colleagues and even their families!
Some were able to share this moment with their children, passing on an important message to them.
Why organize this type of collection?
Every year, the Surfrider Foundation Europe association compiles a report on the amount of waste found in the oceans. Unfortunately, the figures continue to rise.
The 2024 report is clear: more than 1 million pieces of waste were found over 581.3 kilometers analyzed. That same year, more than 1,000 actions took place, involving nearly 22,000 participants. This data is collected through quantification actions.
Among the debris collected, the most common items were cigarette butts, metal capsules, unidentifiable plastic fragments, and pieces of glass.
These figures illustrate the scale of the ecological crisis, particularly through the omnipresence of waste in aquatic environments. They also highlight the results of the actions taken and the importance of collective commitment.
The JMI Group is committed to protecting the environment, particularly within its subsidiary Crusta C. We are committed to controlling our sourcing, production processes, and expertise in order to adapt to economic, social, and environmental challenges.
Results of our collection:
In just a few hours, our teams were able to collect 5 40-liter bags containing:
- 570 pieces of rope and string
- 320 plastic fragments
- 217 snack wrappers
- 86 bottle caps
- 78 cigarette butts
- and much more…
