World Oceans Day
On June 8, World Oceans Day, we at the JMI Group reaffirm our strong commitment to sustainable management of marine resources by joining the MSC movement “Sustainable fishing is much more than that…”.
We are not only celebrating an ecosystem that is vital to the planet. We are celebrating a fundamental connection: the one that links us to the ocean through our business, our products, our partners, and the communities we work with every day.
🚨 Today, more than a third of the world’s fish stocks are overexploited. Faced with this reality, sustainable fishing is no longer an option.
Sustainable management of natural resources
1) Towards sustainable fishing
The JMI Group is committed to supporting the development of responsible fishing practices, in collaboration with local stakeholders in the areas where it operates.
This involves training, awareness-raising, and continuous improvement of fishing methods, with the aim of reducing the impact on marine ecosystems and encouraging sustainable resource management. These initiatives also aim to promote the economic autonomy of coastal communities by providing them with long-term technical and structural support, while respecting ecosystems and local dynamics.
2) Ocean conservation
This involves, in particular:
– Ensuring that marine stocks can regenerate naturally
– Reducing the impact on sensitive habitats and non-target species
– Collaborating with partners operating within a rigorous management framework that complies with current regulations.
Through these commitments, the JMI Group reaffirms its desire to offer high-quality seafood products while preserving marine resources.

💡 According to the MSC, if all global fisheries were managed sustainably, we could fish an additional 16 million tons per year, enough to feed 72 million more people each year.
Sustainable fishing means more fish, more colors, more choice, and more life in the oceans.
