On the occasion of International Biodiversity Day, celebrated on 22 May, the JMI Group is offering its employees an educational and engaging initiative: a quiz dedicated to biodiversity and the impact of our food on the environment.
Why focus on biodiversity?
Biodiversity plays a fundamental role in maintaining natural balances. However, it is now strongly threatened, particularly in the marine environment, due to overconsumption and certain production practices.
As the UN’s International Day for Biological Diversity reminds us, preserving biodiversity is a major challenge for future generations.
Through this quiz, the JMI Group wishes to raise concrete awareness about the environmental impacts of food, by addressing several themes:
- The preservation of marine ecosystems
- Species currently under pressure (salmon, tuna, cod, shrimp)
- The carbon footprint of products consumed
- The differences between fisheries and aquaculture
A quiz to learn and act
In about ten questions, this quiz allows you to combine learning and awareness:
- Assess one’s knowledge of biodiversity
- Understand the environmental impacts of your food choices
- Identify concrete actions to reduce one’s carbon footprint
The goal is clear: to better understand how our eating habits influence the environment and encourage more responsible practices in everyday life.
By participating, each employee contributes to this process while having the opportunity to win a prize. One winner will be selected by site or group of sites to highlight the involvement of each.
Diversifying one’s diet: a concrete lever
One of the quiz’s key lessons is based on a simple principle: diversifying your diet reduces your environmental impact.
According to the Agence de la transition écologique (ADEME), our food choices represent a significant part of our carbon footprint. Adapting one’s habits is therefore an effective lever for taking action.
By limiting the consumption of highly demanded species and various food sources, it is possible to:
- Reduce the pressure on certain species
- Encourage more sustainable production practices
- Reduce your overall carbon footprint
An educational visual will also make it possible to situate the average carbon footprint of a French person, by highlighting the part relating to food.

This initiative is fully in line with the JMI Group’s CSR approach, which aims to raise employee awareness of environmental issues and encourage more responsible behavior.
